The Kharkiv City Dairy is specialized in the production of milk and milk products. The plant is conveniently located at the intersection of highways and railroads and the products are popular with the Kharkiv population. This company was formed in 1933. The facilities were completely destroyed in W.W.II and were rebuilt. In 1981 the output was 200 tons per day and this increased so that by 1986 it was up to 365 tons per day. Presently the company employs 249. The firm currently produces 3.5 tons of whole milk per shift and yogurt, in 125g to 500g containers. Other products include curd and cottage cheese. Their annual production is 1,237 tons per year. The company wants to expand and is looking for $300,000 in new equipment. A representatives of this company was selected to participate in the Marshall Plan Meat, Dairy and Edible Oils study tour to the USA in September 1998. |
