Providing services to power generation & distribution plants |

In General In 1946, a group of engineers and technicians was formed to restore and upgrade the USSR’s power plants destroyed during World War II. That group -- Kharkivenergoremont or KhAER -- has evolved into an exceptionally capable private company that provides engineering, design, diagnostic, contract administration, operation and maintenance and related services. Its market concentration is on power generating and distribution plants built in the territory of the former USSR. Because of its impeccable credentials, KHAER was one of the first state-owned Ukrainian enterprises to pass through the process of privatization. Over the past half century of operation, it has attained a premier position in its field of interest. KhAER has also created a sophisticated software development group that has successfully marketed its capabilities in Energy Design Automation (EAD) to other companies. It leveraged its expertise recently for the calibration and adjustment of complex turbine control systems as well as for the vibration adjustment of high-speed (1,500 to 14,000 rpm) power-generating equipment. Distinctive Characteristics KhAER prides itself in its confident approach to large and complex challenges as well as in the thoroughness of its situation analysis and diagnosis. All work is guaranteed. Like many similar organizations, KhAER assembles the teams it needs to meet the challenges posed by its customers. At peak, KHAER has employed more than 2,750 people, including 420 engineers, 35 technicians and 1,560 skilled technicians -- most of them graduates of the former USSR’s leading technical institutions. Current employment is about 400 people. Products and Services In some situations, KhAER partners with another organization to assume total responsibility for power plant acquisition, capital repair, installation and testing of new equipment, operation and maintenance. It has fully integrated the functions of diagnostics, repair, equipment and parts acquisition, installation and ongoing contract maintenance. Approximately half the company’s revenue derives from Ukraine; the remaining half from projects in other locations, mostly in the territory of the former USSR. Recently, it collaborated with a U.S. company AES to purchase and rehabilitate a large power station in the Republic of Georgia. Just recently the company has repaired hydro-aggregate at the power station “Khramy”, which belongs to AES and at the moment it is running the capital repair of the another hydro-aggregate (AES) at Shulbinskaya power plant. KhAER now retains the ongoing maintenance responsibility for that operation, which sells energy throughout the region. Other recent projects have been located in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Russia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, India and Vietnam. Goals for Ohio Visit KhAER now seeks additional partners interested in former USSR power plant acquisition and operation. It’s interested in complicated maintenance and reconstruction of the entire complex of the main and auxiliary equipment and it’s ready to accomplish this type of work on tender basis. KHAER also seeks contract software development opportunities that leverage its EAD experience. Other interests include becoming familiar with the latest developments in U.S. power plant design and in U.S. diagnostic, control and related electronic equipment. |
