This large, long standing Joint Stock Company is located in the village of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv Oblast and is one of seven such plants in Ukraine. The current company output is 20 million cans per year. For this the company has extensive metal stamping and forming operations where they produce their own cans. Much of this equipment came from East Germany with the vacuum equipment coming from West Germany. In 1972 and 1991 the company twice expanded its production and could produce 35 tons of condensed milk per shift and 10.2 tons of butter per shift. In 1995 the company received a loan from the EBRD to buy a Swedish milk processing line to produce milk to UHD standards. Ninety percent of the new equipment came from Sweden, and the other 10% from Russia. The capacity of the equipment is 750 tons of milk/24 hours but in the summer of 1997 were operating at only 50% of capacity. In another section of the plant large mixers and separators are used in the processing of the milk products. These include cream cheese, kefir, and yogurt. The products are packaged on East German equipment which is capable of producing 2.5 tons/hour. Cottage cheese and other soft cheeses are were produced in an adjacent area. In another area of this very clean plant, three East German machines fill condensed milk cans at a rate of approximately 8 tons/hour. They also produce 2.5 million cans of milk with chicory for coffee.
