Providing undergraduate and graduate degrees in Agriculture


Degree studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels are offered in such fields as Agronomy, Zoo Engineering (with a course in Agricultural Processing), Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Mechanization, Accounting and Auditing, Finance, and Organizational Management. Institute studies are financed by the government as well as personal financial assets. Also available with each of these fields are graduate level courses in Accounting and Auditing, Organization of Production, Beekeeping, Veterinary Medicine and Pedagogical Education.  The application deadlines are June 19 - July 15. 

The documents required for admission include:

  • application form

  • secondary education certificate or a certified copy

  • valid health certificate

  • employment history

  • letter of recommendation from farms or other agricultural enterprises

  • 6 photos, 3x4 cm.

  • copy of birth-certificate for applicants under passport receiving age

  • documents indicating benefits applicants show personally

Candidates must take entrance examinations in general educational subjects beginning June 16. The specialties of Agronomy, Zoo Engineering, and Veterinary Medicine require examinations in Chemistry and Biology. Students wishing to study Accounting and Auditing, Finance, or Organizational Management must take examinations in Mathematics and Biology. Students wishing to study Agricultural Mechanization must take examinations in Mathematics and Physics. All instruction at the Institute is conducted in Ukrainian. Candidates certified at a school in Ukrainian are required to
take a compulsory Ukrainian exam in dictation form. Applicants can be admitted to the extra-mural department if they wish. There is an Agrarian technical secondary school at the Institute. Those applicants who have not passed the entrance competition to the Institute can enter the technical secondary school to study such fields as Agronomy, Beekeeping, Accounting, and Organization of Production.  Admission requirements are usually defined more exactly by May 1 of each year.

Invitation

The Poltava State Agricultural Institute invites foreign citizens who are interested in acquiring a good working knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian that is necessary to study at any higher education institutions in Ukraine or Russia to the Preparatory Department. The Preparatory Department was established in 1980. Since that time more than 1,500 students from Asia, Africa, and Latin America have been trained here, and have continued their education at medical, agricultural, and technical higher education institutions. At present, education at the preparatory department is self-financed. Businesspeople interested in cooperation with enterprises and firms of the CIS countries can be admitted to study for short term (3 - 4 months) intensive courses of Russian or Ukrainian. Tuition fees depend on the duration and term of study. Modern educational facilities are available at the department. The department also provides accommodations in student hostels, text books, medical service, help in municipal registration, and the possibility to attend sport complexes, cafes, dining halls and clubs that are situated on the institute premises. Training is carried out by qualified teachers. The academic year starts on October 1. The following documents are required for admission: birth certificate; certified copy of secondary education certificate; valid medical certificate; 6 photos, 3x4 cm. In order to receive municipal registration in Ukraine, an invitation to study, signed by the rector of the institute, is required.
