Composition Materials Based on Aromatic Polyamide Phenilon of Tribotechnical Applications

1. Brief General Spread Information

The aim of the project is to elaborate the compounds of polymeric composition materials based on the aromatic polyamide phenilon, and the technology of their treatment into the wears for friction knots and for hermetization of machines, applied in the technological equipment of chemical and food industry's enterprises, agricultural engineering and mining-metallurgical complex.

Analogical elaborations are being done by the following famous firms: Dupont (USA) , BASF , Bayer (Germany) and others. But proposed of using composition materials will be increase the analogies on physical-mechanical (in 1,2-1,7 ones), tribotechnical (on 10-30 ones) characteristics because we application new technology (reinforced in rotation electrical-magnetic field) and fillers (thermal-slitting graphite, element-containing fibers).

At the present time Ukrainian industry lacks construction materials for friction knots working under extreme conditions (sliding bearings, facial sealings, piston rings, etc). In some cases scarce non-ferrous metals and alloys (bronze, babbit, etc.) are used for these purposes. Besides, these materials possess some significant shortcomings in their application in friction knots and for hermetization: great labor- and material-consume at production, exploitation and repair, insufficiently high antifriction properties, comparatively high consumption of lubricants, and inability to work at the conditions of friction without lubrication, insufficient hermeticity, comparatively low resistance to fatigue destruction, etc.

The analysis of the existing construction polymer materials has shown that in some indices (heat resistance, strength, antifriction characteristics, etc.) they cannot satisfy the needs of industry. Most of them possess insufficiently high heat-resistance (about 373 К).

The essence of the project lies in the elaboration of new composition materials with heightened physico-mechanical, thermo-physical and antifriction properties, working out optimal compounds, and complex investigation of their properties as well as elaboration of the technology of obtaining wears out of them, worked out the experimental specimens and its investigated in experimental-production conditions.

The polymer base for the elaboration of these materials is made up from polyamides many of which are advantageous over most industrial thermoplastics in some physico-mechanical and thermo-physical properties. As the fillers, solid lubricants and thermo-resistant fibers as well as modifying additions will be used. For producing the wears from composition materials , tradition methods such as pressing, injection-molding and extrusion can be used.

Elaborated materials are suggested for application in friction knots and hermetization of the equipment working in tough exploitation conditions (high-pressure compressors, pumps, agricultural machines and aggregates, tube-rolling mills in metallurgy, etc.).

The topicality of this project in Ukraine lies in the fact that in Ukraine nowadays there are almost no theoretical and practical investigations concerning elaboration of highly strong thermo-resistant antifriction materials for friction knots working at the absence of lubricants.

Approximate need for the details from the elaborated materials makes 300t per year in Ukraine.
The lack of such materials for realizing complectation and holding repair works is being compensated now by buying them abroad.

To held of project's works will equipment the elaborations the technical documents, which need to organization of production of polymeric details, which will be increase of world analogies on exploitative characteristics.

2. Expected Results

Scientific:
- elaboration of the compounds and investigation of the properties of composition materials ;
- elaboration of the technology of obtaining composition materials ;
- elaboration of the technology of producing wears from composition materials ;
These materials can be applied in friction knots of the machines working with lubrication, as well as in dry manner at specific loads up to 20MPa, sliding velocities up to 10m/sec, temperature interval from 193K to 503K; they will possess resistance to some aggressive environs (alkali, acids, salt solutions, organic solvents).

Economic, industrial, commercial:
Application of elaborated composition materials will allow:
- to heighten the long-life of the details` work by 3-5 times in comparison to the traditional materials;
- to lower the expenditure of scarce non-ferrous metals and alloys;
- to minimize the consumption of lubrication oils;
- to lower the material-consume of the details by 4-5 times in comparison to non-ferrous alloys;
- to heighten the productivity of technological equipment at the expense of lowering stoppages for repair works;
- to simplify the technology of producing wears;
- to reduce the importing of the details for complectation and conduct repair works over the equipment.

Ecological:
Application of composition materials in hermetization knots will allow to lower the leakage of compressed environs into the environment (for example, freon, ammonia, etc.).
