Flexible Manufacturing for Chemical Processing

By William Zadorsky (zadorsky@hotmail.com)

ABSTRACT: A number of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMSs) were developed that embody the 3F principle, namely flexible process engineering, flexible equipment and flexible system of processes. The FMSs are comprised of unified modules. Monocarboxylic acids, amides (dymethyl formamide, dymethyl acetamide), o-toluic acid, 1,4-dioxane via diethylene glycol dehydration etc. were synthesized.

DEGREE OF COMMERCIALIZATION. Tests were performed and commercial use at some plants in the CIS was attained.

TECHNICAL DATA AND COST PERFORMANCE. Marked improvements in the environmental and cost performance over conventional systems were attained.

MARKET PENETRATION. Any type of business partnership will be considered.

KEY WORDS. Chemical processing, flexible manufacturing systems, synthesis, monocarboxylic acids, amides, dymethyl formamide, dymethyl acetamide, o-toluic acid, 1,4-dioxane, diethylene glycol dehydration, cost-down, pollution abatement.
