New Approaches to Development of Wind Power Generation in Ukraine

Y.A. Aryshev, V.L. Borsch, N.N. Kharchenko (Institute of Energy, Dnepropetrovsk State University).

It was reported that Ukraine needed about 140,000 windmills up to 10 kWh in capacity. They are demanded mostly by individual farmers who are suffering from disproportional high utility rates.

Such a unit capable of operating at low wind velocities from 3.5 to 20 m/s and low noise levels was developed. The windmill will pay off within 6 to 8 years. Compared to existing high-speed machines, it may help increase the annual power output in most areas in Ukraine by a factor of 2.
